Suspicious Stew
No effects
/give @p minecraft:suspicious_stewSuspicious Stew is a food item that can apply status effects to the player when consumed. Unlike potions, all stew effects are always level 1 (no amplifier).
In vanilla Minecraft, Suspicious Stew is crafted using different flowers, each providing a unique effect. With commands, you can create stews with any effect combination.
Common Flower Effects:
Build /give commands for suspicious stew loaded with custom status effects. Choose any combination of effects, set precise durations, and stack multiple effects on a single bowl, then copy the command straight into your game.
Suspicious stew is one of Minecraft's most interesting food items. In survival it grants a single status effect determined by the flower used in crafting. With commands you can push it much further, stacking multiple effects with custom durations on one bowl. This suspicious stew generator makes building those commands straightforward.
The stew restores 6 hunger points (3 drumsticks) and 7.2 saturation, matching the nutrition of cooked chicken. The real value comes from the status effects layered on top of that base nutrition.
1. Add effects from any status effect in Minecraft Java Edition.
2. Set the duration for each effect in ticks (20 ticks = 1 second).
3. Stack as many effects as you want on a single stew. There is no limit with commands.
4. Copy the command and paste it into your game. The stew applies every effect when consumed.
In survival mode the flower you use determines the effect. Here are all the flower-to-effect mappings:
| Flower | Effect | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Dandelion | Saturation | 0.35s |
| Blue Orchid | Saturation | 0.35s |
| Allium | Fire Resistance | 4s |
| Azure Bluet | Blindness | 8s |
| Red Tulip | Weakness | 9s |
| Orange Tulip | Weakness | 9s |
| White Tulip | Weakness | 9s |
| Pink Tulip | Weakness | 9s |
| Oxeye Daisy | Regeneration | 8s |
| Cornflower | Jump Boost | 6s |
| Lily of the Valley | Poison | 12s |
| Wither Rose | Wither | 8s |
| Poppy | Night Vision | 5s |
| Torchflower | Night Vision | 5s |
Dandelion stew is widely considered the best food in early-game Minecraft thanks to its Saturation effect, which instantly fills the hunger bar. The effect itself is very short (0.35 seconds), but Saturation restores hunger points directly, making it extremely efficient.
Super food: stack Saturation, Regeneration and Fire Resistance on one stew for an all-in-one survival meal. With commands a stew can be more useful than a potion.
Trap stew: add negative effects like Poison, Wither and Blindness. The item tooltip does not reveal the effects, so a player has no idea what they are eating.
Map maker reward: hand out custom stews with long-duration buffs as quest rewards. They stack in groups of 1, so each one feels like a valuable single-use item.
Brown mooshroom farm: in survival, feed a flower to a brown mooshroom and milk it with a bowl to get suspicious stew with that flower's effect, farmable and renewable.
In survival the effect depends on the flower used: Saturation (dandelion, 0.35s), Night Vision (poppy, 5s), Blindness (azure bluet), Poison (lily of the valley), Fire Resistance (allium), Weakness (tulips), Jump Boost (cornflower), Regeneration (oxeye daisy), and Wither (wither rose). With commands you can add any status effect with a custom duration through the suspicious_stew_effects component.
In survival crafting a stew only gets one effect from one flower. With /give commands you can add any number of effects to a single stew using the suspicious_stew_effects component. Each effect gets its own duration, so you can stack as many as you want on one bowl.
Combine a red mushroom, a brown mushroom, a bowl, and any small flower in a crafting grid (shapeless recipe). The flower determines the effect. You can also get suspicious stew by milking a brown mooshroom with a bowl after feeding it a flower, and from certain loot chests.
Yes. Suspicious stew effects have no amplifier, so every effect is applied at level 1 regardless of duration. You can set a long duration, but you cannot make a stew grant Regeneration II or Strength II. Only the length is adjustable.
